"Casa de Emergência" is one of the emergency support services by the portuguese Red Cross that has been operating since 2012. This is one of the services that the Matosinhos branch offers to help victims in vulnerable situations, who need a rapid response 24 hours a day.
It operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, with a multidisciplinary team ready to intervene in all situations. It has the capacity for 10 users accompanied by their children, and they can stay up to two to three weeks until a future solution for the victim is defined.
To date, it has sheltered more than 900 victims of domestic abuse accompanied by their children, making it a space with a high turnover due to the numerous requests for emergency shelter, one of the aims of which is to provide better comfort for those who need protection and shelter at any time.
